Approximately 10 tonnes of e-waste collected
This past week, October 11-15, the University of Adelaide hosted a community e-waste recycling event at the University’s North Terrace Campus. Through our partnership approach, we were able to collect approximately 10 tonnes of e-waste as part of contributing to the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme goal of lifting television and computer recycling rates from its current rate of 35% to 80% by 2021.
An Adelaide resident commented on the event saying “I didn’t even have to get out of my car, fantastic service! Hope to see more of these events soon as its great to see this waste being diverted from landfill.”
We would like to thank the residents and university staff and students for their proactive participation with over 150 cars passing through the event to drop off e-waste. We look forward to more events like these in the future.
The success of the University of Adelaide event is a credit to residents of the CBD and the University’s Office of Sustainability.
