Approximately 84 tonnes of e-waste collected
This past weekend, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 of October, Sutherland Shire Council hosted a community e-waste recycling event at the Bellingara Netball Complex. Through our partnership approach, we were able to collect approximately 84 tonnes of e-waste as part of contributing to the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme goal of lifting television and computer recycling rates from its current rate of 35% to 80% by 2021.
Mr John Sparks, a Miranda resident, was extremely pleased to see a second e-waste collection event held in Ku-ring-gai after attending one earlier in the year. “Wonderful assistance,” said Sparks.
We would like to thank the residents for their proactive participation with over 2300 cars passing through the event to drop off e-waste. We look forward to more events like these in the future.
The success of the Sutherland event is a credit to residents and Council’s waste team.
